Wurzweiler School of Social Work

About University

The Wurzweiler School of Social Work is the graduate social work school of Yeshiva University in New York City, founded in 1957 as the first Jewish-affiliated school of social work in a university setting. Known for its commitment to social justice, cultural responsiveness, and ethical leadership, Wurzweiler prepares students for careers in clinical, community, and policy settings. The school offers graduate programs including the MSW, Ph.D. in Social Welfare, and DSW, all accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Wurzweiler emphasizes hands-on training through extensive field placements and flexible learning options, including in-person, live virtual, and online courses. Students can pursue specialized tracks in areas such as gerontology, palliative care, and substance abuse counseling. Faculty combine expertise in practice, research, and policy to guide students in developing the skills, critical thinking, and professional competencies needed for impactful careers in social work.

Through its partnership with the Sara Schenirer Institute, Wurzweiler offers select MSW pathways tailored for Orthodox Jewish students seeking culturally aligned education. Participants earn fully accredited degrees while benefiting from structured programs, flexible pacing, and academic support designed to respect religious and community values, creating a bridge between professional social work education and cultural considerations.
